 What is Voter ID?

Voted I'd is known as voter's identity card. चुनाव कार्ड in Hindi and ચૂંટણી કાર્ડ in Gujarati. Also know as Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) in technical language. Voter ID is issued by each state's Voting committee, in which the voter's Photo is shown with their details i.e Name (along with Surname), Father or Husband's name, address, DOB, etc...



What is the use of Voter ID?

Voter ID is one type of identity card, the major use of this card is for elections, if you are holder of a voter ID then only you have the right to vote, and fi you wish to apply as a candidate for any constitutional post then also holding a voter ID is compulsory.

Until Aadhaar card was introduced in India, election card was the most used identity card followed by PAN Card, DrivingLicense and Passport. When the mobile service started in India, most SIM cards were bought by presenting the election card.

Whom to meet for apply Voter ID?

1. According to village and city there are different offices, Collector office, Mamlatdar office, Panchayat office has a department or a person for election.

2. In a government school near your residence, one of the teachers has been assigned the additional work of BLO (Booth Level Officer). You will have to go when called, taking care not to disturb the duty of teaching the children. 

3. If there is a non-government office like CSC / Jan Savija Kendra or Dr. Document in our area, they can also do your work by charging their own.

4. There is also a website provided by the government called National Voter Seva Portal (NVSP) (nvsp.in), you can also use it, but it requires enough computer knowledge and equipment like scanner.

 

What is required to issue a voter ID? (Download Details)

1. Identity proof : Aadhaar Card / PAN Card / Driving License / Indian Passport etc. Any one.

2. Address proof: Electricity Bill (latest not older than 90 days) / House tax bill or receipt (latest, not older than one year) / Resident proof with photo of applicant provided by Village Sarpanch / President of Society or Competent Officer.

3. Proof of Date of Birth : School Leaving Certificate / Birth Certificate.

4. Color Passport Size (3.5 x 4.5 cm) photograph, recent (not older than 6 months). 

5. Mobile number as well as email id (if any).
